Re: planing out

Does it have power tilt and trim? if not try setting the trim pin one hole farther out.
a lot will depend on the weight of the boat and how much gear or people you have onboard.

Re: planing out

Need a little more info aluminum or fiberglass.Approximately where is the windshield/steering?Generally speaking spray should be about 1/2 to 2/3 of the way forward. You may need to trim out more.Move some weight back to the stern. If steering is forward and your heavy it may be difficult to get the bow up.If it refuses to get up check the bottom near the transom for a hook
(a concave area ahead of the transom. You may need to use a long straight edge to check it.

Re: planing out

classic case of being under powered. that size boat is a whole lot for a 35hp. even a new one.

Re: planing out

No doubt it is under powered but we had no trouble properly trimming a boat like that when the only power available was a 35.
We had a big heavy fiberglass boat when I was a kid with a 40 on it yes it was gutless and had difficulty planing with any more than 2 people but it did plane correctly when not heavily loaded. Now all we have figure out is why your bow won't come up.As far as a hook these can sometimes be cured with
a rebuild of the area.It can be an involved repair.

Re: planing out

If its fiberglass its most likely not hook unless things are rotted out in there. I think its just underpowered thats all. You could add a turbo and som NOS. just kidding.

Re: planing out

hook is just that a area where the bottom bends inwards then back out to where it meets the transom causing you not to be able to get on plane. Usually this is something that happens to aluminum boats as far as i know but i could be wrong. I just never seen a glass boat with hook unless stringers are rotted and things are verry bad.

Re: planing out

is a hydrofoil the wings you add on over the propeller if so yes they were on this motor when i got it and the motor had a very small alum prop so i told the guy to swap my larger stainless prop off my old motor onto it i think its just under powered but im happy with it for now so i guess ill go with it

Re: planing out

What RPM's are you running? When you put the bigger prop on did you check with a prop expert on that or did you just toss it on?

I'd start right there.
