If you go to search at the top of the page and type in tabman as the member name you will get some info from two members tabman & tabmanII. They posted lots of good info on this topic.

Personally I've been happy with them. I used the Stingray on my old Glastron and was very happy with the results. For 30 bucks it's worth a try. And if you don't like it theres only 4 bolts to remove. Good Luck !

Search Smart Tabs also!

Send for a free booklet on boat performance and handling. Include your mailing address. To: info@nauticusiinc.com or call 800-233-0196.

Hydrofoils can only stabilize the boat is mounted one on each side (port & starboard) not in the center of the boat. This only tries to balance the boat on the keel.

Most people will tell you that they help the boat to plane, but they loose a few MPH. (assuming the boat can run more than 30 MPH).

If the device makes the boat run slower, it indicates that the boat is not running at the most efficient attitude or position. If this is true, it means the motor is working harder and producing less, which also means more fuel consumption. Now how cheap is the hydrofoil?

Re: Planing & Stabilizing plates (Hydrofoil)

I have a 1999 17' 135hp and just installed a ES SPORT 300 hydrofoil yesterday.I noticed a big difference in performance. Better handling and it put my boat in plane in no time. If there's a Academy store in your area they have it for only $20 (that's where I bought my), that's 50% cheaper than a lot of place on internet. If you don't have problem on balancing on your boat then I recommend you try the hydrofoil first because they are cheap and if you don't like it ,like Nickwilson said , there's only 4 bolt to remove.Big bang for your bucks. Regard. Tim.
