I have a Hurricane SunDeck with a 4.3 MPI Mercruiser, Alpha 1 1.62 that has a 14.25 inch 17 pitch prop. If I grab the prop and pull and push it there seems to be a bit of play in it. Is this normal. The prop moves but also if I grab the threaded bolt in the center of the prop I can push the whole set up in and out. I'd say it all moves a good 1/8 to 1/4 inch. It's been like this since I got the boat and everything seems to be working fine I just want to be sure I don't have some kind of problem. My boat also should only be running at 4600 to 4800 rpms and is showing around 5200 at WOT and running around 47 mph. Should I be thinking about changing to a higher pitch prop? The one I have is SS 14.25 with 17 pitch 3 blade. Any help is appreciated.
