I have a 1974 Mercruiser I/O, Chevy 6 cylnd. I have fuel leaking into the oil and don't know how or where. I have replaced the fuel pump twice with no resolve. When I check the dip stick after running the boat I can smell and see fuel and the volume of "oil/fuel" is roughly 5 times more than it should be. Could this be an Anti Syphon vaulve problem? Or possible an Inlet Needle? I sure would appreciate ANY and ALL help I could recieve. Thank You!

if your boat is running terrible at idle and hard to start it could be a sticking float or the main needle jet is leaking?

How does it run??? Did you change the oil after replacing the pump? About the only way I know of that can get that much gas in there is the pump.

I appreciate the response. I've always sprayed starting fluid on the carb, and it usually starts right up. I use the boat for trolling, so idleing is all I really do. It will "hickup" on me and burn some black, and leave fuel residue in the water, Not quite sure if that is considered a back-fire. I'm pretty sure its fuel and not oil. I can't fathom how fuel ACTUALY gets in the oil, considering the two are so "far" apart. Can you please explain a little more on Sticking Float and Main Needle Jet leaking? I appreciate and thank you for your respone.

yes, I changed the oil and the fuel, Unless the pump was installed incorrectly, but it does run and receives fuel properly. The fuel tank is level if not higher than the engine, could the anti syphone vaulve be an issue, whether its missing or jammed open. The boat ran GREAT for 15 years then all of a sudden it started get fuel in the oil. I need some help, All I want to do is fish and go camping. What do you think?
