please help 55H 1976

im over proped with a 13.5 17'' any ideas what prop was fitted as standard to this jhonson?? im getting great top end once up on the plane but it just does not want to get up there,once its up it sings, also the prop i have is a progressive pitch with a cup and is creating too much torque. many thanks alritebouy.

thanks for your prompt reply, im still not sure how much lower to go, i read that for every 2inch pitch drop the wide open throttle rev increase is between 300&400rpm i want it to pick out the water without encouragment but dont want to loose all the top end,what are your thoughts?? down from 17'' to 15'' or should i go more? thanks

we need more info.... what are the current WOT rpms? is the recomended manufact WOT range between 5000-6000? please check....

thanks again, im trying to obtain the wot spec now but the manual i have is not ideal, i will source the required info the write again, thank you so much for finding the time to help, its very kind, a very greatful alritebouy.

i;ve just been looking on the site supplied in the link by tashasdaddy(good site very useful thanks) i checked the engine number on the core plug and altough i was told it was 78 i now belive it to be 76?? the site gives 10 props but only one marked as std, PROPELLER,12-1/4X15 (std.) this is as it appears on the site, what are your thoughts?? thanks again,

what is on the site12 1/4*15 has nothing to do with the boat that you have, its just a generic prop.... you have to tweek the motor to run at the optimal range so it can last longer and run efficient.... thats why we are asking you to provide us with more info....

call your dealer give them your model number year all that good stuff and they should be able to help you out either with the right prop or with the recomended WOT range... let us know
