Hi. I have a motor which may have been an OMC seadrive in a past life. It has a regular mounting bracket on it now. There is steel strap mounted under the motor pan on the port, front. Bolted to the strap is a plastic/composite piece which looks like it's designed to clamp down some cables. The bracket is shaped like the number 3 with the metal strap bolted across the open side.
The problem is that it doesn't seem to line up with anything. It has a number stamped on it: 912159

I'm not able to track this number down. Anyone out there have any info on it? The motor is one of those "mystery motors" of various years, but I believe it was mainly a 1986 110hp Seadrive.

Thanks,
Dennis

I have a pair of 1987s & I just checked. There is nothing like what you describe on mine. On mine, there are a fuel line, an oil line and one round hole for wires & stuff, all about in the middle of the port side pan.

Re: Please help ID cable bracket

Thanks. After working on the engine last night, it finally dawned on me what this is. This Seadrive was converted to a conventional mounting bracket for top-of-the-transom mounting. (Does anyone know what's involved in a conversion like this?) Just wondering what was replaced to add this bracket.

Anyway, the engine pan I have is exactly as you describe, SoLittle. Instead of the battery cables, harness, etc coming directly in front of the engine well away from the mechanical steering, they come out of the bottom of the engine such as yours does. The problem is that with the mounting bracket conversion, I need a "tie point" for the cables and harness in order to avoid rubbing on the steering link arm. This part is basically a clamp that must have been added on later to provide that tie point so the lines would clear everything by clamping them out of the way. I haven't used this motor yet so it's quite a discovery process.

SoLittle, do you have a grommet around that hole in the engine pan to prevent chafing the wires? I tried getting one at the dealer and they had no clue what I was talking about. I ended up cutting a leftover piece of fuel line down one side, and siliconing it to edge of the hole. There's still a bit of open space there so the only option I can think of is to silicone fill in between the wires to prevent water from coming in.

Thanks again, SoLittle. Got any spare parts you wanna sell? ;)

Regards,
Dennis
