Please Help!! Is lower unit gone?

Hi,
I am a new boat owner and I don't have a lot of experience yet but I have a 1990 Mariner 150 outboard I was pulling a tuber (small child) today and I was about half way into the throttle and my boat made a strange noise and slowed down my motor got very loud like I was reving it at idle but no motion now my boat will go forward but when I get about half way into the throttle it will stop again and just rev but no motion is my lower unit gone? Or could it be something else? I do still have reverse. I work on cars alot so if someone could give me some things to try that would be great. Thanks

I am not sure what you mean by "No Motion". Can you look and see if the prop is turning?

I have had problems with Cavatation when a boat motor is not set at the right trim for that amount of speed/power.

Sounds like you spun the hub inside the prop. You can have it rehubbed cheaper than buying a new one. You can check it by make a mark across the prop, then check to see if the lines still line up. Use some thing water proof or scratch the surface.
What size prop are you running?
