Please help (Johson super sea horse)

HI Everyone.

Really new at this.

I have a Johnson super sea horse Electric Starting RDSL-25D. Can someone please tell me what year this was built? Would my engine be the same as a Johnson super sea horse Electromatic? This engine was handed down to me by my uncle and it has been stored for two year. What should be replaced or checked before starting the engine. Any othsers recommendation are greatly appreciated.

You have a 1963 40HP Johnson. Run it on a 24:1 mix and use Champion Spark plugs J4C gapped at .030"

RD is standard mechanical shift. The Electramatic (electric) shift is RK. Same basic motor except for the obvious electric shift part, plus the RK comes with a standard generator. Generator kit is an accessory on the RD
