So, I bought this 67 starcraft, But have no clue on what model it is. From looking around I was thinking Jetstar? Its a 15 footer. Trying to find a new windshield as the plexiglass is spidered and hard to see threw. Thanks for any help.0828111731.jpg

Ray - that could be either a Jet or JetStar. I think the only difference is the seats. Take a look at the brochure sticky on top of the Starcraft section. Do you have an ID plate on the boat anywhere?

The plate is pretty roughed up and half missing. The front seats were some form of aftermarket and the rear seats are a metal frame box seats. Look like someone mad the frames. Will the Vin/hull number tell me anything?

My serial number begins with 66 and has a 5 no. s/n. It's a '66 Nassau. The left side of the plate has 16ft. Nassau. I don't think the serial no. tells any thing like a car VIN. I also have a state issued HIN, but that's just for registering.

I agree with GA more than likely a jet or jet star. I like that merc hanging on the back to.

I guess we can just call it a jet something as the seats are long since gone. ;) Yea, I like that merc 500 as well. Really makes this boat scoot. Need to do some homework on it as well. I think its later model motor from the 70's.

That 500 looked like an early 70's to me but it's kind of hard to tell from the pic.

Welcome. Another JET. I too think it is a bit later model because of the windshield frame. Keep us posted and more pics.

Hey Ray. Last night I forgot to issue the Official Starmada welcome. My humble apologies. So without further ado - Welcome to the Tin Hat Flotilla. We have plenty of drydock space if needed.

I have a 500 on my Nassau, which is just a foot longer than your Jet. It is more than enough power for me and runs well. This is a link to the Merc/Mariner FAQs. You need to figure out the year of the 500 - Makes pats finding a lot easier.

Post some more pics so the rest of us can drool on your tin. Have fun!

Re: Please help me I.D my boat.

Thanks for the welcome here. It was a brutal process to end up in this starcraft. I went threw 4 boats last season trying to find one that suited my fishing needs. And my buddy brought this Starcraft past my house the day HE bought it. He never made it out of my driveway because I wanted it bad. It so far has been a decent boat the 2 times I have had her out. Stays dry as bone on the inside even after being in water 6-8 hours. The merc runs out well but could stand a good clean and tune job. There is a set of scotty down riggers under the tree right now so I will be hooking them up here in a few days. Still need to source up a new windshield though as mine is done from age and a oak branch during our last wind storm. Is this going to be something I have to have made? Thanks

Re: Please help me I.D my boat.

depends whether you want "original" or just want something that looks decent and works OK. if the latter, find a windshield from a donor glass boat of about the right width and hull shape and stick it on. if you want original (why? it's a tin boat, not a Ferrari....), it will cost you some $ and yes, you'll prolly have to have it custom fab'd.

and i'll second the welcome to the unwashed tin horde

Welcome to the Starmada!
Those curved windshields are vacume formed so you might have to hunt for a place that does that kind of work. A mold has to be made then the heated polycarbonate gets sucked down onto it. The original is likely acrylic but I suggest going with polycarb, just be careful with what you wash it with. The easier and cheaper route is getting one that fits from a donor boat.

And it is a little known fact that if you use a glass cleaner with ammonia in it it will eventually craze the acrylic. Windex has ammonia in it. Look for a cleaner that is specifically designed for plastic to preserve your windshield.

You can also use an abrasive toothpaste on a buffing pad to clean
up the plexiglass windshield
