I have an all black with a blue band Mercury Outboard. It has a 2 on the back of it with the number 75 on it. On the lower side it has a 7.5 H.P. on it and it also has the serial number 2095821. The serial number plate also says that it is a Kiekhaefer Mercury Of Canada Ltd. Toronto, Canada. <br /> I guess this means it is a canadian model, can anyone tell me what year it was manufactured in? Thanks in advance for your help....

www.maxrules.com has a merc serial number guide, but when I gave it a quick look, I didn't see that s/n range for the Canadian engines. Hmmm.

Well starngely enough my dad says he bought it around 1978, and get this, he bought it brand new. Any other way to tell what year it is? The whole motor is black with blue band on it. It states that it is a model 2. It also states that it is a 75 which means it is a 7.5 H.P. Thanks for any help again....

are you sure the first digit of that number isn't a 7? 2 makes no sense
