Hello Everyone,
About 2 weeks ago, My fiancee then tells me that she/(we) inherited a 24' 1969 Formula Thunderbird and that she would like to fix it up & use it.(I had no thoughts of EVER having a boat in my life
). 4 or 5 years ago the boat was winterized, covered and put on blocks. About 2 years ago the cover blew off and was never replaced AND the raccoons found the cushons
So we "still" went and bought a trailer & towed it home this past weekend.
After a day if gutting and washing, It looks a thousand percent better BUT "Looks at everything"

Now, I have NO knowledge of boats AT ALL! So I appoligize now for my improper terminalogy & anatomy of boats.

My Main questions to start are:
I have water sitting in the bottom of the boat. (length of time in there???) Can that rot out the hull/interior structure being that the boat is fiberglass and the wood wrapped in fiberglass???
The captins chair did come right out when i pulled on it and the floor seems to be a bit soft (flexable) between the bilge and the storage compartment (could be just not supported well).
There are also some small, hair line cracks in the fiberglass floor coating in areas/corners of bilge WITH almost a rust colored stain coming from them. What could that be???
And then there is the ENGINE (maybe wrong forum to ask)
clean, full of oil, Packed in styrefoam. Is a 6 cyl. GM motor. I have plenty of Automotive experience, BUT how does this boat engine differ from a car engine? Other than No trans and Radiator
Is this boat worth the time/ how do i find out?

Thank you in advance for ALL the help... Just let me know what i forgot to mention that would help in accurate info.

BryanF
