I'm going to install the oil tank in the boat (never had this motor and previous one was 4 stroke) so now I got a little issue... The splashwell area only has room for the battery, and no access on the other side. I MIGHT be able to fit in the oil tank if I relocate the battery and do some rewiring, but thats gonna take me a few hours work at least, and a huge pain in the butt. I can mount the oil tank in the console which is about 8 feet or so away from the motor. So now the question is, will the motor be able to draw in oil from that distance or do I risk ruining the motor due to low oil and/or weak suction?
I will need to run about 10-11 foot of hose given the tight spaces and turns and running them under the floor etc. Is this SAFE or do I just try to relocate the battery instead? I don't know if the oil tank will fit where the battery is but I will have a lot of cable rewiring to do and I rather not get into that, but if I have to then I have to... What are some suggestions? I don't want to kill the motor obviously so that's my biggest concern.
Motor is a 1997 Yamaha 115 V4 2 stroke.
PLEASE HELP?
