I have a 1987 OMC V-8, I over heated a week ago. I have changed the following parts,
Starter, cable to starter, cap, rotor, elec. Modulator, condenser, spark plugs.
I have sparks, compression, and fuel. What else is there????
the problem is too hot or won't run? did one follow the other? how much compression? your post doesn't give much to work with. to much detail is way better than to little. tell me more.
If you have spark (check to see if it is strong)fuel and compression, it HAS to ignite if not start. Recheck your plug leads. Also check plugs - spark at leads doesn't alway mean spark at plugs.
Overheating is a seperate problem unless head gasket is gone but then compression should be affected.
