We purchased an 18 foot 1994 Starcraft boat with a inboard Merc Cruiser 3.0.We do not have alot of experience with inboards and we had it completely tuned up last week which costs us $600.00. We took it out yesterday and we almost sank! The marine that tuned it up forgot to put the plugs back in and we took on water. Alot...the engine won't start. What should we do?

Re: Please Help!

Sounds like you have an I/O not an inboard. You would want to post this under the Mercuiser, Volvo, Omc engine problems area above. Also - most everyone leaves the plug out while trailering the boat and put it in just before launching to prevent water from rotting out the stringers and hull while it sits. Doesn't sound like the shop is to blame for this one - but don't feel to bad - lots of people forget to put the plug in - just be glad you are not fishing it up off the bottom of the lake. As for the engine not running you probably killed the starter by filling it up with water as it is mounted at the bottom of the motor. You may also need to replace other parts (alternator) depending on how high the water got.
