Please share a link or tips on adding attachments on this upgrade. Plus, it appears not to like cutting and pasting text. Is that correct and a disadvantage or danger? Thanks!

If you click the A between the dark smilie and the battery with a fish hook, that brings up "Toggle Advanced Editor". There is a paperclip that shows "Link" when you put the mouse over it. Click it and paste your link into the box and click OK. You get a clickable link something like this: http://forums.iboats.com/search?sear...ude_type%22%3A[%22vBForum_PrivateMessage%22]**

If you highlight some text and do the same thing, the text is, as in Forum New Topic Search is clickable to open the link.

Does this help?

This is an example of a copy and paste text using the keyboard short cut, "Ctrl + V" (Pressing both keys at the same time). And there is also a sample document attachment rendered in full size. Hope this helps.

To copy and paste text, after highlighting and selecting the text you want to copy, click back to the response box to make it active (cursor should be located where you want to paste the text). Do the keyboard shortcut key combination, “Ctrl + V” to paste the text. To show an example I will copy and paste this paragraph in the body of the response box after a short intro.

The attachment option is very restrictive in size and does not accept the newer docx formatting. The limit is 20kb which is really nothing but a paragraph of maybe no more than 5 lines. So instead of using attachment, unless your doc is really small but then if it is then you might just copy and paste it to the body of the response box.

Thanks! I feel different versions of operating systems might be showing different options. Such as: I am using Win XP Pro (old I know) and it is not showing me the icons mentioned related to attachments. Related to copy and paste, it shows “Write something” below the post showing.

I can not make that area active until I write something vs clicking to make it active. I’ll type “test” and can highlight and paste over it. I get a warning as if I am violating and do I want to give access to my clipboard or Etc. I’ll say yes and move on but wonder if this is not the safe thing to do. Usually a warning appears next as if the message is an error and will be reported. I initially felt the messages w/n be poster until I saw double messages.

As you can see I was able to make the area active without writing into first. And all I did is click on it and the cursor started blinking. Well, maybe because you are a different OS but still it shouldn't be that much different.

XP doesn't have much to do with what's happening. I'm running XP and can do all that I used to do in the old forum version. Not as easy until the bugs are worked out, but I get it done.

What browser are you using? Browsers have more impact than the operating system.

IE8 is the Browser that I use. There was a message related to the setting on my computer the text had to be pasted in a 2[SUP]nd[/SUP] window provided. I felt that has ref to the length of the text.

I do see a camera icon just above “type something”. From following the prompts, I seemed to have Bingoed! That was my initial thought but looked over the 1[SUP]st[/SUP] option and let select from album throw me. I am getting "An Error In Response" but I feel this will work.

Well the preview shower my attachment with the message above but it d/n transmit. That means that error message was true vs others. One last shot before both show up. "Ctrl + V" worked but an error did show, so it might omit the attachment again.

The PCs have been fun and frustrating. We were forced to train and use then in 1990 to keep our jobs. I retired in 2003 but continued to enjoy them. Upgrading has been a constant challenge from before then. I still have nightmares of the many MS Dos commands and batch files.

I will get an attachment up soon. Why is the camera’s (share a photo showing in the preview but not the posted message? I just discovered this other icon (on the right) showing to open an upload attachment option win dow, which I'll thy now. If this fails I feel it has to do with my file sizes that worked with the old. I dread the url options due to using photobucket Etc to get a code.

I am still looking for adding attachments instructions listed in the site. Where???

I’m “Hacked” LOL! The Pic that finally showed is what I call a url when the pic is inserted in the text vs an attachment away from the text. If all shows tomorrow, I’ll know I’m learning a little about this upgrade.
