I have a 1972 6-hp Evinrude Fisherman and I want to replace the prop from a 2 blade to a 3 blade. I think the stock prop is a 2 blade 8x7-1/4. I found on iboats a quicksilver diamond prop #QA3178R 8x7 3 blade. Am I correct if I get this prop? Will there be any performance or mechanical issues on the outboard if it was orignally issued with a 2 blade?

Yes 8 X 7 is a stock size for a 3 blade.Should be no problems. However Your final size may depend on the boat and typical load.

That prop should work just fine, as long as it fits. You may benefit from a bit more push when you first take off, but your top speed probably won't change. I'm not sure exactly they switched to the three-blade prop, but my '92 certainly came with one.
