Pleasure craft firing order question

Pleasurecraft, 1987 v-8 carbed.

I'm not too familiar with these engines like I am with the mercs and I took the plug wires off to change the plugs but forgot to label the wires. Before I try to start it I would like to make sure I have all the plug wires in the correct spot.

The distributor is in the front of the engine, I know that probably matters.

I'm just curious if the cylinders are numbered like the mercs, with cyl. #1 on the port side and cyl. #2 on starboard side ect...?

Or are the cylinders labeled cyl. #1,2,3,4 all on port and cyl. #5,6,7,8 on starboard side?

On top of that, what is the firing order?

thank you

It is a Ford.....
Assuming it is an inboard, it can be either rotation & I might think about bumping the starter to check that, it should rotate clockwise while you are looking at it from the front of the boat....
To answer your other questions:
The 1-2-3-4 cylinders are from bow to stern on the STARBOARD side & 5-6-7-8 is on the PORT side.....
The firing order should be 1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8 for a standard rotation small block Ford....
If that does not work IMMEDIATELY, I would contact Pleasurecraft with the serial # & let them give you a definative answer as you could damage your engine if you try to force it to run with a wrong firing order...;)

Thanks all for the quick and good responses. The firing order ended up being the 1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8 as above. thanks again
