I have a 1995 Mercruiser 3.0LX and it calls for the AC MR43TS plugs. Can I use the MR43T plugs? Is there a huge difference?

Re: Plug Difference

You should be using an LTS, not a TS. AC MR43LTS it's a long reach plug the T isn't.

Thanks Don. However, the guide on the motor specifies the TS plugs. So, I'm a bit confused. The TS seems to be obsolete because have found none. I have found the NKG replacement and don't want to use the Champion. I just don't want to damage my engine by use a longer plug than specified. Could you shed some more light, please?

What is the serial number of your engine? There were some engines that had the decal changed because of wrong information.

Wow!! how could you know that.
Must have been around engines along time for information like that.

Re: Plug Difference

Found both bulletins, one was for wrong firing order, the second for wrong timing, but both much newer engines.

You need the MR43LTS spark plug for a 95 3.0LX. By the parts lookup, and by the service manual. There has never been an MR43TS used that I am aware of. Obviously your info on your engine is incorrect, or the L is missing.

The serial number is 0F419592. Wow, I never would have thought that a typo like that would be able to leave the manufacturer! Thanks for all the info, Don.048.jpg

Let's put it this way, there is no such thing as an MR43TS spark plug, so it's not really a big issue to stop production because of a mistake on a decal. The worse that can happen is you have to look at your owners manual, the service manual, or even contact a Mercruiser certified dealer to find out what you should have.

Don os correct on all counts. I have the same exact set up as you and my flame arrestor cover states MR43LTS never used anything but.
