Kind of new to i/o's. I got home this evening after a good day out on the water, and found something missing. Here is a pic of it. http://www.imagedump.com/index.cgi?pick=get&tp=243877 I think it is a plug for the gear housing, but am not by anyway an expert.

My question: What if any damage could this have caused if it was missing for awhile today. I was in salt water. The boat was just serviced last month, and I did have to put about 4 ounces of gear lube in since then.

Thanks for any help.

Re: Plug missing

No big deal it is for looks only it covers the bolt for the trim tab, you can replace it or forget it, it's only trim---Bob

Laddies, I'm glad that you knew what he was talking about, I could not find anything missing. I guess you are talking about the cover for the trim cylinder?

Re: Plug missing

It's the little Black Plastic Pop-in Plug that covers the access hole to the Anoide Plate, or Trim Tab,... Whichever is there......

Re: Plug missing

They come out of the factory with a plug over the trim tab bolt (as already stated). Takes a few minutes but they do eventually fall out. I think for every drive with one in I've seen 50 without.

If you really want to replace it, the part number is 19-32297, same number for the Apha One Gen II drives. www.mercruiserparts.com has them for $2 each. Order lots :D

Chris...........
