Plug Wires

I have a 30 hp, 4 stroke. I removed the plug wires to take out the plugs for a shot of
fogging oil before winter. Not sure if I got the one and two wires on right. Might be
reversed. Will I do any harm to start it in the spring?
Anyone have a diagram on how the plug wires go on?

Thanks
Don

Re: Plug Wires

Start it in the spring.

If it backfires, spits, etc., you have the wires reversed.

Trying it this way once or twice will not harm the engine.

Thank You! Wasn't sure if it would harm the motor or not.

Re: Plug Wires

If only the plug wires were removed and the motor is a 1999 or newer, the coils are stacked the same as the plug wires should go to the plug for that cyclender. More info can be found at Boatinfo - Mercury Service Manual for 30-40hp 2001 and up This should answer any question you might have about the motor. If it is not hat motor you shpuld be able to go to that home site and get the one for your motor. JMO
