Plumbing for kicker: where to cut hole for line?

I have a 1999 Trophy 2052. I've plumbed to my fuel separator with bulb, additional inline filter, not using an additional valve.

My question to everyone is: where should I cut the hole for the line to come out? I figure I can cut a hole on the edge of the engine compartment hatch, on the inside of the transom so the line comes inside of the boat and over the transom, or on the outside of the transom. I'm nervous putting more holes on the outside and would need to do it right in halfway between stbd and port due to the kicker mount and structural integrity.

Has anyone done the same thing and have good ideas where to cut the hole? The bulb will be outside of the hole, not in the engine compartment.

edit: I guess I posted in the wrong thread originally (io/inboards). I have an I/O.
Thanks!

Why can't you run the line thru the boot with all of the other line for the main engine (or is it an I/O)?

If you cut the hole in the transom, you can also use a rubber boot there. I would consider a removable (quick-connect) fitting for aesthetics, as well as keeping people from wanting to use the primer bulb to steal the fuel from your boat. They make flush mounted quick connections. Just go to a hydraulic shop and let them know what you want and make sure they know it's for gasoline.

Yes, it is an I/O (originally posted in I/O forum). I didn't know you could flush mount w/ quick connect. Love the idea! Thanks.

If you do end up cutting through the transom, you'd use a 'rigging flange' to run the fuel line out through the stern. Here's a pic, and iboats sells the 2" flange:

Look at a couple of outboard boats to determine positioning on the transom, but a couple inches below the gunwale should do it for you.
