I have been unsuccessful with the last few posts I've put up here and I'm hoping my luck won't run out again as I used to get a lot of sound advice on here, but lately seems quite dead and unresponsive for me. Anyway please help if you can as I really need it now.
I've wired up my 1995 Yam 115 2 stroke, its a "new" motor and harness for me so I am not familiar with it. I've wired up everything successfully (Tach/Speedo/Fuel) and now I am stuck at the trim. I have spent a few hours reading over many posts here and on THT website and found advice to only drive me crazy now. My harness is a Yamaha one ofcourse, but there is no ORANGE (trim send) wire anywhere on my harness!
All I have left hanging after all my connections is one bundle of 4 wires (green/red/yellow/black) of which the green is tach send, yellow is 12V ignition, red is 12 positive/constant? and black ground.
Then there is another bundle with 2 solid white, and 2 solid black of which I understood the whites to be for the kill switch and oil cut off.
1) So WHERE is the SEND wire for my trim gauge? I do have trim sender on the motor and have followed the wires on the motor end (sky blue, light green, red) and they go into another connection into orange, pink and black, then get lost into the main harness on the motor end, and into the harness on the boat end of which I have no idea what color they are now. The controls (704 binnacle) have 2 sets of wires coming from it, one is the same sky blue, light green and red bundle as seen on the motor end, and the other is just a plug in style into the main harness. However, the sky blue, light green and red bundle has on it what looks to be Yamaha factory splice connections in all 3 wires, though they just connect to the same set of wires? WHY would they do this? Its puzzling me! Could the red wire in this bundle be actually the ORANGE that supposed to be the trim send? I don't want to risk blowing the sending unit as that is the warning on my Faria gauge.
AND 2) I have a low oil sensor/warning light (Yamaha original) and it has 2 wires on it; a black one and a yellow with red stripes. Where do these connect to??
My gauges are all brand new Faria gauges and have hooked up perfectly except for the trim SEND signal.
PLEASE HELP with any info you can I would REALLY appreciate it!!!!!!
THANK YOU
