Is it possible to see PM notifications as soon as one logs in like it used to be? I used to be able to see if had any PM's in my inbox without even opening up the PM page. Now, because I can't see notifications, I remember to check my PM page only once in a blue moon. If somebody sends me a PM, it could be weeks before I remember to check.

Re: PM Notifications

If I have any unread PM's and I have not opened my inbox........ I get a pop-up on my screen when I first come on. The other way is just touch (click) the notifications tab and a number will be there if any are unread.

Unless I'm mistaken, you don't even have to click notifications. If you have any unread PM's, the number of unread will be displayed. Example: "Notifications 1" When you click it, it will drop down with "1 unread" and "inbox" below. If there are no new PM's and you click notifications, the drop down will only offer "inbox". Hope I've helped.

Re: PM Notifications

I just got my first PM in quite some time and it was pretty obvious. As soon as I signed on, I got a pop up box telling me that I had a PM just like Bob_VT gets. Now if I can just figure out why I don't get subsciption notifications...

From the number of posts I see on this subject, it seems to be an unresolved issue left over from the last version of this platform?

Re: PM Notifications

Subscription notification may be a thing of the past. That would require that an email be sent for every new post that someone is subscribed to. In plain old shear number's based on off season activity would be one thing however, we are coming into the prime season. I realize some forums do it and people are always sharp to point that out however, the "other" forums are not as large and do not have the Marine Store and all the other things. Some things are not practical and would create huge server overload.

During quieter times I get PM notifications by email instantly and during busy forum times it can take up to 10 minutes. yorab I do not believe anyone is getting them since the changeover.

Re: PM Notifications

Okay, I've actually gotten accustomed to not getting an email notification. Lately, I've been hoping that I could just check my "Subscribed Threads" page now and then to see which threads have been updated. Sometimes the thread title is bolded to show that a new post has been added but, usually, I have to open up each of the last few threads or so to see if anybody added anything to them because the title isn't bold even if there have been new replies.
