That's definitely not my pump. I think I have an older merc pump from what I have discovered.

Have you considered having yours rebuilt? I had a shop here in connecticut rebuild my original starter and alternator. I asked about rebuiling the trim motor and pump and he said he's done it many times....
Just a thought.

Thought about it, but mu pump manifold has a huge crack in it and can't even track down another manifold or any parts for that matter for it at all. Figured id juarreplace it all together.

Are you sure that the pump you have is the right one for your outdrive? There was a time during the 1990's that Prestolite pumps could not be bought for any price. A lot of people rigged up oildyne pumps as a replacement. Mercury even went so far as to sell a whole kit complete with brackets, wiring harness, and oil tubes. But times have changed and the patents have run out. The AQ290 pump is now the #1 bargain in marine trim. It is vastly underpriced as compared to other models.

For one thing, that SAE J1171 is not a part number for your pump. Just a number that states the pump can be used in a confined area with a gasoline engine.

Which of these pumps do you have?

i have the older style pump on the left. i always assumed that j1171 was a unique id for that specific pump. any recommendations as to what pump to switch to under 300$ ish ?

"Trim pump, earlier model" is the one in the ebay link provided above.
