Point problems

Mercruser 165 inline 6 ... i keep fowlinging points ....ive replaced the condenser and points numerous times set the the points boat runs great for about 10 to 20 min then starts misfiring cant seem to figure out the problem thinking ofreplacing the entire distributor...Any thoughts on the root of this problem

How much voltage are you getting at the coil? You should have a resistor wire that limits the voltage to 8v or so when running

also make sure the V+ is on the + side of the coil

If it's a new condenser, the only thing that could cause points to burn is too much voltage or current. Ensure you have only about 8V on the + side of the coil when the points are closed, and that the coil primary resistance (all wires disconnected) is around 1Ω....
