I asked this question in a previous post but no one replied with an answer.
Can I get points and condensers from the local auto parts store, and if so....what should I ask for? What kind of "other" engine would have the same type of points and condensers that would work on my 1976 45 HP Chrysler 457HH??? Or do I have to order OEM parts made for a Chrysler/Force??
I would really appreciate your info!

a couple of years ago we had two 45's as cheap project motors, someone told us that points etc off a Escort ( don't remember which donk ) would work, never got to find out as the closest Rare Spares joint ( hour away ) didn't have any, put it on the backburner then

Point being nothing more than a mechanical switch, I'd assume most any set of points that would fit into the space provided would work. The rubbing block will open the points when the cam lode from the crank comes around to do so. The condenser could be another issue though. But again I can't see too much problem with most any valve condenser not working well also. If it fits, it should work... JMHO! There really isn't much with points and their construction...

aftermarket parts are an option, as you probably know: 2014 Sierra Catalog I've had good luck with Sierra parts.

I went to Sierra Catalog and they only had points....no condensers or tune up kit, but that site needs some help. There were no prices and no place to click to buy, it was just lists of parts...no info....no contact...no nothing. Weird site.
I'm going to the local NAPA parts store and see if they can match up my old points and condenser. They are pretty good at pulling a rabbit out of the hat when you don't have a hat.
Thanks again!

Thanks. Sierra wants $75.00 for one set of F______ points!!!!!!!!! That's disgusting. Highway robbery.
NAPA couldn't come up with anything for points or condenser. There was too much greece on the wiper thing for the points and one set of points was burned, so I filed the points.... cleaned all the grime around the points ect, plus found a loose fuel line. Had the boat on the lake this morning and that baby ran like a little sewing machine!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Man......that was a good feeling. I hope it lasts for awhile.
Thanks for your info guys!!!!!!
