Points Conversion Kits

Has anyone used a points to electronic kits in there distributors. I have a Mercruiser inline six that runs the old points system and would like change it over to electronic. I found a conversion kit on the internet but haven?t ordered it yet. Just wondering if its a good or bad idea to use on my boat. I have used them in the past on old street rods but never on a boat.

I think it should work.....dont see why not. Lots of places offer electronic ignition kits so pick whatever you want.

They work great...but you should order the marine specific Pertronix. No vacuum advnace.

Get one! But what I do is take out the points still attached to the plate,just leave set from when it ran with them,I put them in a double ziplock,store them in a dry location. If the petronics fail,never had it happen but it is possible,you can install the points, run her home.
