Polar 17 saturated foam

Hey guys I just recently bought a 2000 17 foot fiberglass polar with a Johnson 90 on it and I believe the foam in it is saturated. Is it safe to remove the foam in these boats and leave it out. Also does the foam serve as any kind of structural support in these boats?

i would be willing to bet the foam is there for a reason , however without seeing pics i couldn't say without a doubt. at minimum get rid of it and replace with new foam and seal it up so it cant take on anymore water.
