Polishing & Waxing question

I am taking the oxidation out of my gel coat and want to know if I should de-oxidize, polish and wax the entire hull of if I should just go down to the waterline? The boat is trailered so it is not an issue of access, just want to know if I should do all of the hull or not.

Thanks for your input!

Re: Polishing & Waxing question

I didn't cos it didn't look bad. The areas of colour looked awful so they got sorted. Once they were done the whole thing looked really good. Plus, it is a very time consuming job! I suppose it depends on how bad they look.

Good luck either way.

I do all of mine when I do it. You don't wax half your car do you? LOL it can be time consuming but it's not a weekly chore so pick a nice day and enjoy it. turn up the radio and have a cold one or two.

Below the water line probably still has a somewhat decent shine to it as it has not been in direct sunlight. You can probably get away with skipping the agressive first step or two but I would put a coat of wax on the bottom. Where I boat in the Raritan Bay, NJ the areas under the waterline that dont have wax on them get a nice brown stain with only an afternoon in the water. It comes right off with hull cleaner but I need to get under there and wax the whole thing sometime.
