Maybe a silly idea, but is it possible to make a polycarbonate prop? I was thinking it could be a great emergency prop. Super light, corrosion proof, floats. Would such a thing possibly work?

Re: Polycarbonate props?

To clarify, I'm talking about regular props for IO or high HP outboards. Something I'd use on my Alpha 1 Gen 2 drive.

aluminum makes for a FAR FAR superior prop vs a crappy plastic one... plus aluminum props float too when attached to a boat

Polycarbonate is probably too brittle a plastic to use for a prop.

Been done already... They are rated for up to 200hp. (available for sale on an iboats competitor, they are NOT listed here... Link below goes to the manufacturer website so it should be safe)

COMPOSITE MARINE PROPELLERS, INC.

Re: Polycarbonate props?

This probably should have gone in the prop section. Sorry.

Re: Polycarbonate props?

Sorry again, just following along. In any event I believe I'll just hang on to it. Never know when I may upgrade to another 70hp.

Guess a freebie is the same as a item for sale. I'll know much better next time trust me.
