What size and style anchor is best suited for a 20 ft. toon? Should I have a winch for it?

Re: Pontoon anchor

Lake bottom varies with heavy rock, sand and mud, depending where I am. There is well over 100 miles of shoreline.

as i said that one is a good all round anchor. attaching to the slip ring make it easier to retrieve in rock anchorage. just swing the boat around 180 degrees and pull the line, it come free. digs into sand and mud.

Re: Pontoon anchor

Check out the "Box Anchor", it costs a little more but is truly a "Set it and Forget It" anchor.

Doesn't require a chain for lakes/rivers
Works with less rope (2 to 1 scope)
Folds flat to store

I've used one for about a year now on my 21 ft toon and it has set and held every time. I use a large box as a night anchor and a baby box for a lunch hook and as a second anchor to keep the stearn from swinging in the breeze.

Works great for me.
