Pontoon Bunk Slicks

I have some left over 3/4"X12" composite lumber from my new deck. I would like to rip and install on my pontoon trailer over the carpet on the bunks. Would that work OK?

3/4" x 12"
or 12 feet?
Being the aluminum tubes are so thin, I would not like the concentrated pressure points created by strips of anything holding the toons up off the bunks.
Maybe okay if you put those 2.75" wide strips end for end on the centerline of the toons.

Not sure I'd be comfy with that. Seems like it would be pretty hard on the toons.
