Started looking around a bit and wow is this a very variable price purchase. I can find pontoon covers for low as 120 and as high as 600. I've come down to the Durashield covers which look really nice but I of course want to run it through everyone first. I mean some of these covers are so expensive i could buy half a boat just for the price. If it helps my boat will be in a shed and only outside in the summer at times. Let me know if anyone has a recommended brand or if these Durashields are any good. Thank you!

I bought mine from Iboats.com for around $500.00 but it's heavy duty. You can pull it on your trailer going 60 mph.

I am using a cover from Bass Pro Shops. I bought one 4 years ago and it finally was getting brittle and breaking down. I replaced it with the same one. I waited til it was on sale and got it for $169. It has a flap at the front to access the boat without pulling the whole cover.

Re: Pontoon Covers

the shed itsself is a pretty good cover, but why noy use a tarp. you can get tarps in just about any size, we keep are toon in a equip. shed on our small farm, but plan on using a tarp as well to winter it. i wouldnt put 100 bucks in a cover unless you plan on towing it with the cover on it then its one more thing to mess with at the lake, one more thing to take up on the boat if you leave it in the boat, or in the truck, then its 1 more thing to get stolen from your truck,

Re: Pontoon Covers

How about on the water? What do you guys use to cover your boats while at dock or on the mooring? I have a 24ft riviera cruiser with a hard top aluminum bimini, it looks like I'll be leaving it on a mooring in the Conn. river for the season here in Ma. I don't think a mooring cover will work with the four uprights holding the top up, any suggestions. I could drop the top when I leave it for the week days if I'm not going to get out on it, it'll take about 10-12mins to put it up, not long but kind of a pain, then I could just use a tarp but I'm sure the wife won't like the looks of that. I think it's sort of important to at least cover the seats for longevity with the sun . Thanks

A tarp is somewhat of a good idea, but you never know when we might have to put something else into the shed and the boat may have to sit outside for awhile. It's always a pain getting a tarp that big to cover it and keep it down from the wind. Plus I will be towing it down the road and a tarp is something that I want to have. Usually these covers have a longer life too then most tarps. Will see though, good idea.

Also, most tarps don't breathe very well, while most covers do as they are purpose built. Plus, the cheap blue tarps have permanently stained their share of pontoon furniture. The best thing is a custom cover with snaps. Not cheap, but you will eventually get your money back by virtue of the increased longevity, plus they're a heck of a lot easier to deal with and are considered a big bonus by savvy potential buyers, so they increase your resale value. They are also much easier to put on your boat since they are custom fit. That said, I used one of these for a season and it was okay. Wasn't the most durable, but it did keep the boat snug and dry once I bought a support system for it.
