hey im putting a new deck on my 24 ft pontoon boat . with marine plywood just wondering if i need to seal it also.

always a good idea' especially if you're going to lay carpet overtop. Seal the tops, bottoms and edges (most important) with a couple coats of epoxy. Use a roller for the faces and brush for the edges. Out of curiosity, what ply are you going to use? There are a few types of ply that are considered "marine grade"; but that mostly depends on how loosely the manufacturer / seller grades it.

There are several different types of ply out there. Marine grade is very expensive, but it's good stuff. Alot of people on here have had good luck with Auruco ply, (myself included) It's reasonably priced and has very few voids. You definatly want to seal it with epoxy though.

I read epoxy mentioned couple of times. Are you planning to use epoxy resin for the job? if you want to gelcoat the deck, you can?t use epoxy.

thanks for the imformation yes im putting carpet on deck also.i did this 10 yrs ago too but just used cdx outdoor plywood . i put about 8 gl on linsed oil on the plywood lasted 10 yrs.but when it got soft it went very fast.hopefuly ill have it all done by the end of the mo.all new seats the works. this is where im at now ordering everything this week
