Pontoon prop help please!

I have purchased a used 18 foot pontoon boat, with a 50 hp, 2 cyl Evinrude outboard. At full throttle and in turns, the prop cavitates. I have also noticed that the motor has been lowered on the transom, from it's original position, which I suspect was done in an attempt to correct this problem. The plate above the prop on the motor, is now well below the bottom of the motor well, which creates a significant spray of water off of the shaft.

I suspect the motor should be raised back up, and a different size prop used. The current prop is a 12 1/2 X 13, with a part #386909. It was hard to get an accurate RPM reading at full throttle, as the prop would not hold.

Any suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks.... Mark

Re: Pontoon prop help please!

There are pontoon specific props which should help correct that problem. They'll be far superior to the aluminum prop you're running. I'll PM you for more details.
