You will soon know I know nothing: I have a pre 1972 16ft Reveria Crusier that's the deck length that I have stripped down strictly for fishing. Has nothing on board except steering console and seat. I took my 1993 Evinrude Tracker off my 15 foot Bomber and put on over 4th of july weekend and I guess I spun the bearing? It push the boat fine for my needs until bearing problem. I don't know what pitch the prop is or what pitch it should be. Oh yea duh, the Evinrude is a 40 hp. It is a three blade prop, guess I need all the info you can give me as far as suitable pitch and diameter?

Re: pontoon prop selection

Is the motor a long shaft(20")
Do you mean you spun the hub? Are you sure its a spun hub and not the motor a little too high.venting(cavitation)
Have you tried adjusting the trim? On a pontoon its usually to try to get the least ventilation problems.
You can check the hub by drawing a waterproof line across the hub and test run to see if the line is broken.
If had to guess a prop size I would suggest a 4 blade 10" pitch as a starting point.
A tach is necessary to be sure the rpm is within range.
You may be able to test "ventilation" by putting one or two people at the stern to see if it stops venting.
