I have a johnson 115 fast strike that ran good last year just needed a fuel pump I recently removed the motor from one boat and put it on another boat now I've got it going into gear and it's like when it's cold it won't throttle up when it warms up it throttles up but struggles to get wide open and goes wide open til I pull the throttle back down to idle i can't find a good even rpms

I just changed spark plugs and fuel line and fuel pump and still same thing I did notice the push to choke is stuck I can push it in and get it to choke but the key won't turn enough to send power to starter

Also I've not had the motor under a load just trying to keep from getting towed back to the dock

please any help would be appreciated

If primer valve stays open motor will flood with fuel.-----Pinch off fuel supply to primer as a test.----Replace the ignition key.

Ok sorry I checked the primer valve seemed to be in good shape and changed the ignition switch think when I put it on the new boat I stretched the control cables I put longer ones on and the throttle issue is fixed now

However I took it to the lake yesterday and didn't make it past the dock figured it was bad gas seeing how it was memorial day and a later start in the day and walmart "premium gas" maybe got the bottom of the tanks with some water in it so drained the fuel filled up from another gas station with non ethanol and brought to the lake and it struggled to get running and white smoke surrounded the boat landing but eventually warmed up and got it to the open water and ran it a little bit and started doing good
But when got back to the dock to load it on trailer gave trouble on staying running and blowing smoke long enough to get on trailer

The primer valve is an ultra simple device and easy to test its's function.----Pinch off the bigger hose to stop fuel going to it once motor is running.

Pinch off the 2 little lines.----Or carefully remove those 2 little lines when motor is running.------No fuel should come out of the 2 small nipples.
