For some reason I am hearing a popping noise through my speakers when I activate other electronics in the boat such as using the trims tabs or raising/lowering the leg. Any ideas on what is causing this?

RF interference. You could filter it with capacitor/resistor bridges or just live with it. Its not causing damage... but yes it can be annoying.

Setting up the needed filters is too complex for this forum. It involves a lot or calculations and testing with meters.

DollarBoat, you could install a pi section filter on the positive power supply line. It consist of a two capacitors and one coil and will probably remove all that noise. Look for such filters for car stereo systems. They sell such things everywhere. JMHO!

Ohhhhhhhhhhh pi filter!! I like those!! And all excellent advice above ^^^^

Also sometimes check things like good tight clean grounds (and powers) and the like.

Also^2, a battery is an excellent filter as we know so.........trying to use that as our already built in filter is good and can work too!!

1) If you have an additional battery (house type), run/power your AM radio (J/K) to that, that gets it off the engine batt. that has potentiality a long path after a noisy alt and emi stuff's like motors, solenoids, etc., are attached too (It can help try to ground the amp/stereo right to this battery neg. post as well)

2) If you only have one battery and applying the same theory of long runs from the engine after alt and emi generation things, try this, my Honda (among other things over the years) was a whinny noisy old things and this config to power both low level eg and high power amp that connect to my mp3 play almost dead quiet. (It can help try to ground the amp/stereo right to this battery neg. post as well)
