I was thinking about getting some type of portable radio i could carry around while using my whaler, I currently use a "ghetto" stereo cooler that i made but its big and ugly. Does anyone know of a radio that i could run using a 12v cig lighter hook up? I know they make the job site type radios and run off of the power packs that you use to run your power tools, Anybody every use one if so how long does that battery usually last you? And i don't mean like a small cheap crappy boom box that runs off of D cell battery but one that will sound good that i could plug into and run off of a 12v source.

Re: Portable Radio

Many radios and boom boxes accept a DC input; too many to number. You could also mount a regular car stereo in a box with some speakers.

Re: Portable Radio

since your boat is small, why not get one that runs on batteries? I use a small stereo/CD on mine; the radio uses very little power.
