Portable tank with an inboard?

Soon I'm going to be replacing my outboard with a big V8 inboard. I'm pretty sure every boat that has a big V8 also has a built in gas tank. (at least from the factory anyway) I just spent $60 on a 12 gallon portable tank for my outboard...would it be possible to hook that up to an inboard? Maybe just put a "T" in the fuel line with a valve to choose the built in or portable tanks?

My pontoon boat has a Merc 140 I/O, and it has a Mirax fuel tank (steel I think, maybe aluminum) under one of the seats. As far as being "built in", maybe it's bolted down.<br /><br />By the way, once you have an inboard, spending $60 will be the least of your worries.

Pleas don't forget about the safety issuses with built in tanks.Forced air ventilation and proper venting.<br />Rich
