My boat sat for a while. When it was stored last time everything worked great. Pulled it out, and I have no fuel being pumped through the fuel pump. Replaced the fuel pump, still no gas flowing. I Checked everything over very good, and have been recommended that I possibly need to replace the cam. I have a 1984 mercruiser 120. How hard is it to replace the cam? Does anyone have any idea what this will cost
To get repaired at a shop? I don't know how the cam went bad from sitting, but I guess anything is possible.

You already have a thread going with this issue, you don't need to have another, this will only confuse people trying to help.

If you did wipe out the cam lobe that drives the fuel pump, to a point that it won't drive the fuel pump, you would have seen metal in the oil when you changed it. So how did it look? Did you notice?

That metal is gonna do a job on bearings too.

I was waiting to change the oil until it ran. I can feel the lobe, and it feels smooth and looks good with a flash light. taking it in thursday, I have surpassed my tech knowledge. sorry for the second post, i was asking more about the cam. kinda has me nervous.
