possible stator problem

i have an 86 85hp cant get over 3000 rpm rebuilt carbs pumps and hoses decarbed also gave a slight increase in rpm. could the stator not be giving me enough power at top end? or should i look elswhere?

If you have a manual and some equipment, testing out the stator should not be too difficult. Are you getting strong blue sparks on your spark plugs?

spark is good but i cant tell when under load at 3000 rpm will try to test for voltage
