Hello and thanks to all who venture here.

I have a 1996 5.8 FLPHUR re manned engine. All new parts from plugs to cap etc. New fuel pump and filters even rebuilt the carb.

When cold she starts right up. Once warm I can crank until the cows come home and no start just crank crank crank.

If I hit it with a short blast of starting fluid she fires right up.

Before the engine was installed in boat she ran fine on a stand hot or cold she fire right up. I was using a short piece, 18", of new fuel line and the line was placed into a 1 gallon jug.

All fuel lines on boat are in good shape externally but old.

I also added an inline plastic fuel filter(automotive type) to see if my tanks have any gunk from sitting a few years.

If this is vapor lock how does one fix vapor lock and what causes it?

Thanks ,
Vinny

Vinny: My new Indmar 5.7 with Holley carb needs a squirt or 2 of gas (by moving the throttle up and down approx. 1.5" a couple of times quick while cranking, to work the accelerator pump) to get started when warm. Have you tried that? I think it's because the choke plate is wide open when the engine is warmed up, meaning there's an abundance of air but not much fuel.

Hey Luhrs28 sorry it has been a busy few weeks. Still no luck with the engine restart after warmed up. Tried all sorts of throttle tricks. I can give it a small short blast of ether and it fires right up. On top of that I am getting a dead key, any way. I changed fuel lines so all is good from gas to carb. I have read about the spark cutting out. I am planing on checking tomorrow.

Why did this start all of a sudden?

So many questions....
