Possible water in gas tank

Should probably be in FAQ engine discussion but it wouldn't let me post there.

Anyway, My gas cap was not completely covered for a week or so and we've had some rain since then. Does this get treated with mineralbase spirits or dry gas like in a car ? I know a flush is the safest route, just trying to get around that if possible.

The engine seemed to turn over fine with muffs, just being cautious.

Best way is to have a water separator on your gas line... similar to this here at Iboats http://www.iboats.com/Fuel-Water-Se...4180502--**********.113841770--view_id.369078

That way, if you do have a little water in your tank, it will get filtered out -- of course, this only works if you have less than a filter's worth in your tank...

That seems like a good idea for the future. I know alcohol based spirits pull the water and burn off, I just wasn't sure if that was good for a 2 stroke engine.

Water seperator, get a couple of spares. Run the tank empty if you can, or as close as you can if you can't run from a secondary tank.
