i own a power drive bow mount trolling motor and ive replaced the foot controll 2 times now cause the circuit board inside of it wears out. there is part numbers for everything in there but the circuit board is almost as much as the whole pedal so i just buy that. anyone know where i can buy just the circuit board inside the foot pedal? it is the board and the 18' cable is all 1 part. seems like 2 foot pedals in 1 1/2 seasons is pretty crappy to me. i always keep the trolling motor inside with the pedal when not in use i have one of those quick disconect brackets. any help would be usefull!!!

Well, I can tell you from personal experience that you will have a very hard time finding just the circuit board. Besides, with the entire pedal being available for just a few dollars more you should just go ahead and get the whole thing.....again.

Having said that, I did find someone who could get just the circuit board but I ended up buying the new pedal because of the small price difference. I searched and checked a lot of places on the internet, including iboats. Many places had the pedal listed (none had just the circuit board) but did not have it in stock and delivery time was 2 weeks or more if you were lucky. I got mine in a couple of days.

The place I found that got me one quickly is Foster's Trolling Motor Repair at trollnmotors.com located in Louisiana. (Sorry for the referral JB but this is a very hard part to find). They also had the circuit board. There is also a place in Texas with a similiar web address that may also have the board but I cannot remember it right now. Try a search on Google for MinnKota parts or MinnKota repairs.

It is not normal for one of these boards to go out so quickly. My first one lasted me many years. I would definitely check your wiring to make sure there is not a problem there or with the way you remount the motor using the quick disconnect bracket, maybe shorting something electrically.

Also, since you already bought a new one before, is the new one under warranty?

Good luck!

Call Min Kota. They have a great customer service department. Lodge a complaint and I would not be surprised if they give you a new one.

If you're still following up. I dont know how much these parts cost. I to have a power drive and occassionally, the foot pedal activation doesnt work. Wehn I take it apart, a little white plastic lever that 'tilts' when I step on the pedal seems to be worn. I semi-fixed this with a bit of electrical tape.
Doesn't sound as though this is your problem however. What I was going to suggest....
last year I didn't use my pedal at all! I bought one of those wrist-watch remotes. I forget what it's called - not auto pilot - something else. I held off for a year to buy it as I thought it was too pricey but I finally took some x-mas money and went ahead. Am I ever glad I did, handiest darn 'toy' I have ever bought! So convenient and far easier to use than the pedal.
Just as a side note--shortly after installing this, I 'ran' the boat along the shore on the river that runs through my town using the remote. The the funny thing was, I was standing on my friends apartment on the tenth floor about 150' horizontally away! It was a hoot watching people try to figure out how the boat was being piloted!

MajBach
I just bought Motorguides wireless version of the powerdrive. I have to try the no boat driver trick. I just hope the battery does not die while I am doing this. It wouldn't be that funny then.

I had that happen once as the boat was pulling away from me. If you lift your arm, the range increases. Got it to shut off and turn around just in time
