power hatch kit

i was thinking that over the winter i would like to make my sundeck / engine cover powered, like the formulas and such. has anyone done this, does anyone make a kit?

My boat has one because the hatch is big and heavy. If you can lift your hatch without trouble, I recommend not doing this. It is slow and the strut gets in the way of working on the engine.

If you are truly sold on the idea, don't forget that you'll need to add a couple of access panels to get at the release pin in case your battery is dead and the hatch is closed.

Some of the lifting rams lift off the telescoping halves too so that allows you to muscle the hatch open in the case of a battery or other failure. There are numerous kits around, look in the go-fast boat arena, they allows have some type of electric hatch.
