I have a small 1500 watt inverter on my boat for things like a vacuum ,trouble light ,drills etc.. I was wondering if I could just mount it somewhere and hard wire it to one of my batteries instead of fumbling around with those spring clips hooking it up to the battery. Thanks-Russ

Certainly. It won't know it is hard wired. Make sure there is plenty of air circulation so it doesn't overheat.

I'd put a switch in between the inverter and the battery... or some other means of disconnect. And a fuse/breaker if one isn't built into the inverter.

Good suggestions above ^^^

FWIW.....I installed/run an Airpax breaker switch similar to one of these \/ \/ \/ below with my Inverter. I hid the unit away (not in the bilge per-se but, close and with lots of free air) with its own switch left in the on position, then run it with this breaker switch remotely.

With my current Inverter, this then of course allows me to turn it on and off remotely, however the "off" is TOTALLY off, making for no [Zero] sloooooooow drain standby/leakage/idle current draw when controlling remotely.

Some Inverters have remote on/off controls built-in (wireless and such) and some/most (like mine) have a tad bit more standby/idle current then I want on my raft.....so, this is a zero standby current use method with still having a remote control scheme. Works well for me and my needs.

Makes a decent cup of coffee, Starbucks of course :)

bluesea (or Airpax etc) offers these and similar options in your flavor of current
