Power loading problems

Since I'm board today, I'll ask a question that's been bugging me. My Reagal's trailer is a bunk type and is set up correctly for the boat. If I try to power load it (back it in the water until the tops of the bunks are just under the water, this is where the boat is floating BTW) the stern drops down far enough to contact the concrete ramp. I've tried trimming the drive up as far as it will go without hitting the trailer button but it still doesn't make much differance. If I back the trailer to the point where the boat doesn't contact the bunks, the eyebolt on the bow is way over the winch roller (which isn't adjustable hieght wise) so I can't secure to winch strap. I have been idling the boat on the trailer to the point where it stops on the bunks (if I add power the stern drops) the doing the tight-wire balancing act along the trailer's frame rail to get the winch strap and hook it up, then winch the boat the rest of the way on to the trailer. Does anybody have any suggestions as to why the stern drops when I add power to get the boat up on the bunks, or have any ideas as how to make the potential big splash easier? :D TIA

Re: Power loading problems

Hi. I load in a similar fashion to you. This summer when I moved from an 18 to 23 ft boat I had similiar concerns. I found that I had to adjust the procedure slightly. My solution was to lubricate the bunks with silicon spray and leave slightly more of the bunk out of the water (not much just an inch or so). Now the boat slides up fairly easily with not more than around 1000 RPM and I just have to winch it the last 12" to 18". Took a bit of trial and error with the positioning on different ramp slopes but seems to work for me.

Cheers
