Hello everybody,

I'm tryin' to get my 55 hp johnson (1975 model) ready for the water but can't get any fire to the lower cylinder. I swapped the coil wires and determined that wasn't the problem. From the info I gathered from the helpful peple on this forum, I'm thinkin' it is the pack. Is there a way to ckeck the power pack and if it is bad, what is a fair price to pay for one and where can I get it? Your help will be greatly be appreciated as that youngun is ready to fish.

Thanks in advance,
JoeP

How about sending me an e-mail with model and serial number. I am showing a 50 hp for 1975. I should be able to get you a powerpack and may have one here in stock.

Allan Gra6961@usa.net

Joe_P.... OMC did not make a 55hp engine in 1975. What is the model number of your engine? Besides switching the coil wires (which I assume did result in having the coil fire that didn't fire previously). You can also switch the sensor wires leading from the timer base to the powerpack. If when you do that, nothing changes, the the powerpack is faulty. If the non firing coil now does fire, the sensor (timer base) is faulty.

If you have the two cylinder engine with the type pack that has the screw on type terminals, I do have a few of those left in my remaining stock.
