I have a 1970 115 evinrude that loses spark on all four cylinders after coming up to temp,it takes about 20 minutes of running in the lake.It will restart after it cools down aprox. 20 minutes.I wasn't able to make it do it running it in a test tank until i read about going over the ign. parts with a hair dryer. As soon as i warmed up the powerpack it quit.I let it cool and did it 3 more times with the same result. Can a powerpack do this i have heard they either work or they don't I do not want to spend money on a powerpack unless i'm sure its bad. please help.

Hi wayne.....it's these types of problems that make a guy go nuts....ya' know?

I would think that you found the problem. Yes, a pack can do this. I used to think that a pack is either bad or it's good. Then I run across one a loooooooooooooooong time ago that went half bad. Sure surprised me. Anyways, if it did what you said it did, I would say replace it.

Re: power pack problems

I just got my new powerpack today and the instructions say if you have a 15 amp stator kit to wire the powerpack a certain way. How do i know if my motor has a 15 amp stotor?

Well ,One way would be to clamp an amprobe around one of the stator feeds to the rec. and throttle engine to around 2500 rpms and obtain a reading.Unless original owner ordered the higher output charging system ,my guess would be that it doesn't have the 15 amp coils.
